Moses Lake, WA - October 15, 2024: The Port of Moses Lake is pleased to report the recent completion of significant upgrades to its wastewater system allowing it to handle up to one million gallons a day, more than double the original design capacity. Improvements include the construction of a new 70-million-gallon storage lagoon and a new supplemental watering well to aide in the treatment process. The upgraded wastewater system is already operational with several businesses located on the east side of the Grant County International Airport utilizing this key asset.

The Port’s original wastewater treatment facility was designed and constructed 1999. Over the past 24 years, this wastewater facility aided the Port in attracting Chemi-Con, Moses Lake Industries, AstaReal, Okanagan Fruit, Genie, SGL, as well as Fire Attack Base, a division of the U.S. Forestry Service. After nearing capacity several years ago, the Port Commission proactively authorized the wastewater treatment facility expansion to ensure that existing port clients have ample access for current and future operational needs, while also attracting new business potential to the Port.

Executive Director Dan Roach said, “The decision to expand our wastewater treatment facility demonstrates the wise foresight of our commission, and our sincerest thanks to our amazing team at the Port for bringing this project to completion. Moving forward, we are excited to see how this expansion will benefit our current port tenants as well as future development endeavors.”
