1952 ................... Tactical Air Command assumes command of Larson AFB
1955 ................... Larson AFB is test center for B-52
1957 ................... Military Air Transport Service assumes command of Larson AFB
1959 ................... 4170th Strategic Wing formed
1960 ................... Strategic Air Command assumes control of Larson AFB
1960 ................... Col. Everett W. Best takes command
1960 ................... First B-52's arrive (for 327th Bombardment Squadron)
1961 ................... Col. David A. Tate assumes command
1961 ................... First KC-135's arrive
1961 ................... 568th Strategic Missile Squadron activated
1965 ................... 568th Strategic Missile Squadron deactivated
